Tarek Medkour received a presidential grant to pursue his higher education studies in the UK in 1999. He obtained his MSci ( Mathematics ) and PhD ( Statistics ) degrees from Imperial College London, United Kingdom in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He went on to work as a postdoctoral research fellow at Imperial College London, on an EPSRC funded multidisciplinary neuroscience and statistics project where he collaborated with a team of neuroscientists to analyze and study neuro-physical data of medically diagnosed schizophrenic patients.
After an experience, as a researcher, in a world renown financial company in London. He returned to Algeria to become a Statistics lecturer at University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene, Algiers (USTHB), where he remained until 2022. He joined the MSTD laboratory where he leads a research team on time series data analysis with interest in developing statistical tools for physical and scientific applications in particular in the areas of neurophysics and astrophysics.
